What does "Stay the Course" Mean?

Actually the phrase “stay the course” originated as a nautical metaphor on maintaining a constant, un-altering course while navigating especially during a battle; to pursue a difficult task or activity to the end.

The Apostle Paul used the phrase “…I have finished my course…” near the end of his life while a prisoner in Rome. He meant that he had finished what God called him to do the very end.

In Psalm 40 we find these words, “He brought me up also out of an horrible pit…and established my goings.”

Once we are saved, God presents us with a course, a plan in which He promises to guide and never leave us alone. However, we still have a choice each day as to how we live. God doesn’t “make” us do anything but invites us to have everything that is worth having.

The “course” is written down for us in the Word of God. It is a sure course. It is a safe course. It is a simple course. It is a course that has been tried and proven.

This website is designed to encourage you to STAY THE COURSE. Don’t let Satan and his world divert you, distract you or disturb you.

But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself,

so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus,

to testify the gospel of the grace of God. Act 20:24

Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience. Eph 2:2

GOD GIVE US MEN WHO WILL STRENGTHEN THEIR GRIP ON THE HELM,

CHECK THEIR COMPASS AND STAY THE COURSE!

Reflections

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

(Psalm 90:12)

Someone has said that we live two lives: the one we learn with and the one we live with. I think we would all agree that learning takes up most of our lives. The last few years of our life make us aware of what really matters the most. Life is short, life is unpredictable, life is fragile and LIFE IS IN THE HANDS OF GOD.

“In Him we live and move and have our being.” Act 17:28

God has given us three gifts in particular to help us learn sooner and live better: THE BIBLE, PRAYER, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT. The Bible has the answers to our questions. Prayer moves God to help us. The Holy Spirit makes what we learn possible; He enables us to live a life of victory and prosperity; contentment and peace. “Oh what peace we often forfeit; Oh what needless pain we bear…”
